The Brightling Observatory, is a remarkable stone built house which stands proudly on top of the rolling hills of East Sussex.
the Observatory was again designed by Sir Robert Smirke as were others of the Follies and was constructed in 1810, and at the time had the latest astronomical tools such as a high powered telescope and a camera obscura.
The observatory features a tower that rises above the house, offering breathtaking panoramic views over the countryside, even from ground level.
Nowadays the Observatory is a private house so there is no public access, but it is a very pretty structure with the most stunning views all around.
